Who wouldn’t want an Olympiad Pigeon in their loft?

Jozef Bednár from Slovakia also wanted to acquire good pigeons and came across the Kamp/Kippers combination. He bought, saw, and conquered, achieving fantastic chain results against large numbers of racing pigeons in 2025.
The result of the 3rd, 5th and 7th National Ace Pigeon yearlings in Slovakia are 100% Kamp/Kippers pigeons.
Unlike the Olympiad pigeon, the titles mentioned above were primarily achieved with the Brande breed paired with the Van Toor Brothers breed.
Yes, if you perform so well nationally with your pigeons, there’s a good chance a pigeon will compete for an Olympic title. The fact that NL24-8150376 also bears the name Olympic Maarten is proof of Jozef Bednár’s appreciation for the contribution of the Kamp/Kippers combination, and in this case, Maarten Kamp, who is the spokesperson for fanciers interested in their pigeons. The Kamp and Kippers household must be so proud of this achievement and the fact that the pigeon bears Maarten’s name.
This Olympic Maarten is a descendant of the Calis and Huijsmans pigeons.
Below is the pedigree of Olympic – Maarten.

I asked Maarten how Jozef Bernár is able to distinguish himself so much in Slovakia. It’s a bit of a guessing game to explain it, but I’ll give it a try anyway.
- The prizes Olympic Maarten has won based on the number of pigeons are at the provincial level in Slovakia. This makes it easier for good pigeons to distinguish themselves.
- The pigeons that Jozef Bernár obtained are apparently extremely suitable for a hilly landscape. (Van de Brande, Diamant type xv Toor type) In that landscape, the difference is made. (Power)
- Finally, and not entirely unimportantly, Joseph’s wife also cares for the pigeons. Well, many women have a different relationship with pigeons than men.
But that’s not all, because there’s another Olympiad pigeon. The Kamp/Kippers combination also played a major role in the 1st National Ace Pigeon Yearlings, also 1st in Category G. Martin Macej’s Olympiad in Slovakia. (The mother is from Blue Marcel.)
Incredibly , the 1st National Ace Pigeon has 50% Kamp/Kippers bloodlines, and the 3rd, 5th, and 7th National Ace Pigeon Yearlings are even 100% Kamp/Kippers pigeons. There are 3,200 active pigeon fanciers in Slovakia, divided into 40 different associations. Slovakia is approximately 1.3 times larger than the Netherlands.
The Kamp/Kippers combination is now holding its first auction at Herbots in Belgium. There are 15 pigeons for sale, including 9 proven old birds and 6 youngsters.
If you want to sell pigeons at Herbots, you’ll need to bring some very good ones. Therefore, there are proven old pigeons that have won numerous top prizes, even a Grand Prix winner, all of which would be perfect for a breeding loft. Take a look at the old pigeons listed below, among others. I’ve only selected the first four pigeons from the sale to show you.

It’s striking that the six young pigeons offered from their breeders are still quite low, certainly well below the average price of two previous sales of only young pigeons on duivennet. Many fanciers placed bids at the time but stopped because the prices became too high. Perhaps this is a great opportunity to acquire one of the six young pigeons on offer.

You can keep dreaming about owning an Olympiad pigeon, but sometimes it takes action to acquire pigeons in your loft that have the quality to one day be crowned Olympiad pigeons. As you can read in my blogs, I’ve already taken action myself.
